Our Chore Charts are not just about the chores!

Our Chore Charts are much more than the just the tasks your kids can do day to day, they are also a great tool to help them learn along the way! Things like...
Colour
"Charlie your chores are on the yellow sheet. What colour are Emily's chores on?"
Counting
"Lochie, how many chores do you have this week? How many chores does Ben have? Let's count them together."
"Matthew, because the dog is going to grandma's next week you will have one less chore to do? How many will that be? Here, I'll take away 'feed the dog' and we'll count how many are left."
Letter Recognition
"Max, what is this letter here at the start of your name? What does Sophie's name start with? Can you see any other words that have an 's' in them?"
Learning to Read
Looking at the chore which shows the picture of feeding the rabbit. "Daniel, what do you think this might say? Which word says 'rabbit'? It starts with the letter r".
These are just a few examples of how our Chore Charts can be used in so many different learning areas. How many ways they are used is up to your imagination! I'm a firm believer that it's never too early to start getting the kids involved in helping out around the house and a Chore Chart is a great way to start.
It's quite amazing for them (and humorous for us) when they start to realise that dinner doesn't cook itself; its not the fairies that put the rubbish out and there is no remote control that makes the bed make itself.
Having a house that runs smoothly is about everyone putting in, no matter how big or small. And the sooner they start, the sooner helping out becomes just another part of their everyday living.
Chore Charts are suited to children of all ages. So don't be shy. You'd be amazed at how responsive you kids can be to the idea of helping out if they have the right motivation, as each task in itself doesn't really take very long.
